Roughly half of U.S. homes don’t have a fence at all — which means the other half already know what a good one can do for a property. A well-built wood fence protects the people and pets you care about, holds up to Texas storms, and adds real curb appeal to your home.
Before you call around, it helps to know what’s actually out there. Cattlemen Fencing installs everything from classic privacy fencing to ranch-grade rail fencing across the DFW Metroplex, and we build every style below in-house — no subcontractors, just our own trained crew on every job. Here’s a rundown of the wood fence styles we offer, so you can figure out which one fits your property.
Privacy Fencing for Your Home
If function matters more to you than looks, you’re probably shopping for a privacy fence. A solid wood privacy fence keeps kids and pets contained, blocks sightlines from the street, and gives your backyard some real breathing room. Cattlemen Fencing builds these in Western red cedar, Japanese cedar, and pressure-treated pine, so you can match the look to your budget and your home’s style.
Board-to-board fencing is the simplest, most budget-friendly privacy option we install — tightly spaced vertical boards with no gaps for sightlines or airflow. It’s an economical way to get full privacy and noise reduction, and we build it to the height you need, from a few feet up to a full 8-foot privacy fence.
Board-on-board fencing takes that same idea and overlaps the boards on both sides of the rail, so there’s no direct sightline through the fence from either yard — even as the wood naturally shrinks and expands with the seasons. It’s a step up in material and labor from board-to-board, but it holds its look longer.
Shadow box fencing alternates boards on either side of the fence line, giving you a finished, symmetrical look from both your yard and your neighbor’s while still providing strong privacy. It’s one of our most requested styles for homeowners who want their fence to look as good from the back as it does from the front.
Horizontal fencing runs the boards side to side instead of top to bottom for a clean, modern look that’s become popular across newer DFW neighborhoods. We build these with the same cedar and pine options as our vertical styles, with steel or wood posts depending on your property.
Ornamental and Decorative Wood Fencing
A privacy fence doesn’t have to be purely functional. Cattlemen Fencing also builds ornamental wood fencing for homeowners who want their fence line to be a design feature, not just a boundary.
Cap and trim fencing is our most popular decorative option — vertical boards framed top and bottom by a clean border of horizontal trim, with ornamental post caps available to complete the look. It’s a great fit for homes with more traditional architecture.
Lattice-top fencing adds an open lattice section along the top of a standard privacy fence. It lets light and air through, makes a smaller backyard feel bigger, and gives climbing plants something to grow on if you’re the gardening type.
Ranch and Farm Fencing
Cattlemen Fencing got its start as a fencing-only specialist, and ranch and farm fencing is where that shows. Whether you’re keeping cattle in or keeping pests out, we build fencing sized for real acreage, not just a suburban backyard.
Ranch rail fencing is the classic choice for horse and cattle properties — round or dimensional posts set in concrete, connected by three or four horizontal rails. Space the rails tight for a more finished, contained look, or wider for a traditional open-range appearance. It won’t contain small livestock or pets on its own, but for horses, cattle, and large-acreage boundaries, it’s hard to beat.
We also build cross-fencing and ranch rail with wire mesh backing for properties that need both the classic ranch look and the containment of smaller animals — just ask and we’ll design it around what you’re running on the property.
Built by One Crew, Start to Finish
Every fence on this list — privacy, ornamental, or ranch — comes with a few things you get on every Cattlemen Fencing job, no matter the style:
- An all in-house, W2 crew. We don’t subcontract installations, so the crew that measures your property is the same one building your fence.
- A one-year craftsmanship warranty on every material we install, from cedar privacy fencing to ranch rail.
- Staining and sealing with Wood Defender to protect your new fence from Texas sun and weather, plus gate and gate operator installation if you need it.
- Veteran-owned, systems-driven service, so your project runs on a real process from estimate to final walkthrough — not guesswork.
